What I Know

Areas of Specialization

14 years of practical experience helping Central European shoppers navigate seasonal dressing

Winter Boot Construction

Understanding insulation materials, waterproofing technologies, sole construction, and how to evaluate boots for real winter conditions. Not all boots are created equal — I can show you what actually works in our climate.

Layering Fundamentals

Building effective cold-weather outfits requires knowing how layers work together. Base layers, mid-layers, outer shells — each has a purpose. I focus on practical combinations that don't require three jackets.

Fabric & Material Science

Merino wool versus synthetics, down fill power ratings, water-resistant versus waterproof finishes — the details matter. My master's thesis covered functional textiles in layering systems, and that technical foundation shapes everything I recommend.

Regional Shopping Strategy

Finding quality winter gear in Hradec Králové requires knowing where to look and what to expect from local retailers. I've built relationships across the region and understand what's actually available when you need it most.

Climate-Specific Dressing

Central Europe's winters are unique. We don't have extreme cold like Siberia, but we do have dampness, variable temperatures, and extended seasons. I tailor advice specifically for our conditions, not generic winter wear.

Wardrobe Building

You don't need to buy everything at once. I help people build thoughtful cold-weather wardrobes piece by piece, understanding priorities, budget constraints, and how items work together across seasons.

Professional Path

My Background

From fashion design student to cold-weather wardrobe specialist

2006-2010

Fashion Design Education

Studied Fashion Design at the Technical University of Liberec, focusing on functional design and textile technology. Completed my master's thesis on layering systems in 2010 — the technical foundation that shapes my approach today.

2010-2015

Personal Styling in Prague

Worked as a personal stylist in Prague for five years, specializing in professional wardrobe development for corporate clients. Built expertise in understanding how people actually dress and what they need from their clothing.

2015-2018

Regional Retail Consulting

Relocated to Hradec Králové and began consulting with regional fashion retailers on seasonal inventory and customer styling needs. This is when I really got to know our local shopping landscape and what people in this region actually need.

2018-Present

Content Leadership at nwrite

For the past eight years, I've led editorial content on winter fashion and cold-weather practicality at nwrite s.r.o. This role combines everything — technical knowledge from my studies, real-world experience from styling clients, and deep understanding of what Moravian shoppers actually need.

About Petra

My interest in winter fashion didn't come from some grand vision — it developed naturally during my university years at Technical University of Liberec. I became fascinated by the intersection of design, functionality, and climate adaptation. That's the sweet spot where good fashion lives.

After graduating in 2010, I spent five years as a personal stylist in Prague. I worked with corporate clients who needed professional wardrobes, and I learned something important: people don't care about fashion for fashion's sake. They care about getting dressed quickly, looking put-together, and feeling confident. That practical focus shaped everything that came after.

When I moved to Hradec Králové in 2015, I started consulting with regional fashion retailers. That's when I realized how much people in our community lacked practical guidance on building effective cold-weather wardrobes. We've got long winters, variable temperatures, and specific shopping challenges. Generic fashion advice doesn't cut it.

My transition to content creation at nwrite came naturally. I recognized that I could help way more people by writing about winter boots, layering principles, and regional shopping strategies than I could by styling individual clients. Over the past eight years, I've written extensively about boot construction, insulation technologies, and how to build a functional cold-weather wardrobe for our specific climate.

My approach combines technical knowledge from my studies with real-world experience. I don't recommend things I haven't worn myself or don't understand. And I always keep in mind the specific weather patterns and shopping landscape of the Moravian region. That's what makes my advice different.
